Blessed are the Peacemakers

~ Spiritual Growth Series

"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God." (Matt 5:9)

The Sermon on the Mount is one of Jesus's most famous teachings, and rightly so. It tells us as believers how we should act. (Matthew 5:1-11)

Many families are fractured and have become remnants of what their ancestors strove to knit together. Past hurts, offenses, and unforgiveness are keeping people from relating and being together. In my heart, I know that this pains Jesus, that we are holding onto grudges and offenses like prized treasures.

"Then came Peter to him (Jesus) and said, Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, 'I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.'" (Matthew 18:21-22)

This is the first Sunday in Advent, the beginning of the Christmas season. There is no better time to mend fences and make peace. When we forgive our brother or sister (or aunt or mother for that matter) we are striving to make peace and move on. Jesus said, "Blessed are the peacemakers.."

This Advent let us be the peacemaker in our relationships, in our families. It is up to us to be Jesus's representatives on earth.

Much love and God bless you! ❤️🙏
