As Christians, we are fighting battles on a daily basis. These battles occur in the spiritual realms.
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. (Ephesians 6:12 NASB)
Every day we wage a war against an unseen enemy. Who crouches, waiting like a hungry lion, waiting to devour us.
The Bible teaches us to put on “The Full Armour of God” so that these attacks will not do damage to us.
One of the weapons in our arsenal is the Sword of the Spirit. Which is the Word of God.
If you know when a robber is going to come into your house wouldn’t you arm yourself?
It would be very difficult to defend your home and family with your weapon sitting on your table. It would be even harder if you have never used it and didn’t know how it works.
So why then do we have Bibles sitting in our bookshelves? Or on our living room tables gathering dust?
To be able to defend yourself, you have to know what your weapons are and know how to use them.
"Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” (Ephesians 6:10-18)
The Bible is not only a great book, but it is also God’s word. It is a powerful weapon of truth against which the enemy has no power.
You have a powerful weapon in your arsenal. Don’t let it gather dust!
Blessings!
